Are You Ruled By Yes?

  1. Very good article Kit. Last November I took an account of me, my activities and associations at the time. I was feeling my life was not my own and that I was being stretched too far “helping others.” So, I took steps to take back my own time by advising persons I was assisting that I would no longer be as available, defining what activities I would continue and what activities I would not. Then, I have monitored myself as to what activities I agree to and when I feel “squeezed” when asked about participating in something I really would prefer to fore go. I am still a work in progress, which is always fun to come back around to, to continue to grow, adjust and expand healthy skills while dropping habits and ways of being that no longer work.

    • Janet, I love hearing when other people learn to say Yes less often. How does your lighter load of responsibilities feel?

I have found that decluttering my life is like decluttering my closet: the more I remove the more I want to remove until I get to an almost bare-bones situation. I love that!

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
