“I knew everything you talked about. I’d just never thought to apply any of that information to my low-energy situation!”
Those were the words voiced by a 100-year old woman after my first Energize Me! workshop. As we talked further she went on to say that she actually had learned some things, like the energizing techniques, but that the basic information was familiar to her.
One of the best parts of having the conversation with this woman was that when she sat down for the workshop she told me she had no energy and wanted some. I pointed out to her she had some energy: she was out of bed and dressed in more than her pajamas. That elicited a smile.
Give yourself credit. Things may not be as bad as you think.
She really liked the framework of how I presented the information, and that starting with basics and building on them made the workshop flow for her. She felt confident that because of the easy steps and directions she’d be able to modify her habits and stay energized
With that kind of attitude you can have the same success. That’s also an attitude that will keep you vibrant and alert. What a good way to live life!
What I learned is that there were different ways people’s low energy presented itself, and there were different reasons for their low energy. Yet no one cited their advanced age as a reason for lacking energy, and their ages ranged from 80 to 100! I found that to be interesting in itself.
Is “age” one reason you give for being low energy? How can you shift that attitude, and reality?
It was interesting to see how their low energy levels presented in the group. They voiced that they felt apathetic toward getting out, not having interest in reading since watching TV was easier, feeling a need to take naps or go to bed early, and a lack of interest in exercising or taking walks.
How does your low energy present itself?
The reasons I gleaned, through conversation during that workshop, for being low energy included the lack of exercise, leading a sedentary lifestyle, getting too little sleep because of things like the difficulty falling and staying asleep, and finally not having total control of their diet.
Why are you low energy? Do you want to have a different life experience?
A few days after the workshop one of attendees was in the facility’s living room area demonstrating to her helper one of the energizing techniques I’d taught. Both were interested in why it worked, so that lead to further discussion among us. The sparkling of her eyes as she shared her new-found wisdom was rewarding, and told me she was engaged in being energized.
The suggestions introduced during the one-hour workshop may not lead to lasting change with most of them, but they grasped the value and simplicity of adopting even one of the shared tips. If I developed an ongoing relationship with them they’d more likely stick with the simple techniques and show continued progress in living an energized and engaged life.
The challenge for you is, will you do what you need to do to get and stay energized? Are you willing to modify your established habits so that you can improve your energy level? Do you need ongoing help in sustaining your changes?
Living an energized life is within your power and grasp. Are you going to make it so?
