Survive the Holidays

Remember the holidays when you were a kid? If you were like me, the anticipation and excitement of things to come kept you awake at night — and then got you up early in the morning. The good smells of delicious food, decorations appropriate to the holiday, special traditions, and parties.

Maybe your memories of the holidays are good. Maybe they weren’t. Stress may have replaced the anticipation you felt as a kid.

Is the joy gone? Has dread of travel, family dynamics, and overeating replaced the excitement you once felt — or wish you’d felt?

It doesn’t have to be that way. You can take control of your reactions to holidays, take control of how you participate in family events, take control of your joy. You can overcome the dread you had as a kid or that you have now.

Where’s the Magic?

The magic seems to ease away as we all grow older. For some, it becomes an obligation to attend. For others, hurt feelings from the past or resentments over non-related slights crop up. The traditions we had as kids became chores as adults as our lives got busier, and that annoyance toward the chores can bring an uncomfortable energy to the events. Through the years, the spark may disappear.

Would you like to put the spark back into your holidays? Would you like to take the stress out of the season? All the gift buying, the travel, and decorating the house top to bottom, inside and out. Are family events forced? Is there too much drinking and too much rich food? Does it take longer to put the decorations away when the holiday is over?

I know I had to bow out of family holidays and create my own traditions. When I ask people if they’re ready to get off that carousel, the answer is “…I can’t.”

Oh, my!

Can you imagine a holiday that’s easy, joyful, and full of laughter? Would you like to do holidays on your terms? Is it time to create your own traditions that you can enjoy?

I Have a Solution

I’m offering a group mini-coaching program called Surviving the Holidays. We’ll cover your energy management, boundaries, how you’ll adapt to changes, and your feelings.

You may find you like holidays so much with your new insights that you’ll start creating your own holidays!

The sessions will be via Zoom, an hour a week for four weeks. There will be a little bit of homework, a requirement for entry to the next session, to help you process and integrate the conversations into your thinking, giving you the best result to turn your holidays around. The program will be Mondays from November 15 to December 6. Thanksgiving will be right in the middle so you will have a chance to test your developing mindset around the holidays and then to work on what came up for you.

The charge for the course is $497. If you sign up by Monday, November 8, you’ll get a bonus fifth session: “Evolving From A Human Doing To A Human Being”.

Choose from the two sessions, both on Mondays: 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time and 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Space is limited to 10 people in each session.

  1. Looks like a great program to gain the holiday spirit back. Very timely as we navigate through this rather “changing world”. Looks very worthwhile!
