You don’t have energy, you generate it. I liked that conviction when I first heard it, and have repeated it many times.
It makes total sense. As with any generator, you need specific things to generate your energy: fresh air, food, water, and the desire or attitude of energy. That last element may be the most important for living an energized life.
This concept makes so much sense to me it’s part of my business focus. I coach people to generate and maintain the energy they need to live the lives they want. The things I teach work on me, and work on my clients. Success and progress are what we all seek as we improve our lives.
Then came a new idea. I saw a NOVA program on Nikola Tesla one night. As my brain is want to do, it made a leap from the topic at hand to something else. In this case, the something else was the Law of Conservation of Energy, or the First Law of Thermodynamics: energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system. To continue the law, it can only be changed in form. It’s most often quoted as being “energy can be neither created nor destroyed, only changed in form”. We can discuss later whether our bodies are isolated systems or not. For the point of this discussion, let’s go with that idea, the idea that your body is an isolated system.
With that in mind then, it occurred to me that we aren’t energy generators, we are energy transformers! The energy is there, though not always in a form we want or can use to our advantage. The challenge can be to transform it to something we can use.
Transformers come in two general categories:
- A device that changes voltage from one level to another.
- Toys that are humanoid-type figures that change into everyday items like vehicles, weapons, and various electronic devices. I’m going to upset Transformer fans by suggesting that shape shifters qualify as transformers in the larger sense of the concept, transforming between a humanoid and non-humanoid form.
The device transforms energy up and down. The toy transforms by changing shape depending on what it wants to accomplish and how much power it needs. And shape shifters morph to fit their specific needs too.
The bottom line is that you are the same being, regardless of the shape or voltage you have. To be more human, it’s your challenge to keep the voltage up, the shape shifted, and be more than an every day item. All of that is under your control.
You have energy, you transform it to our use as you need it. You transform it to help create the life you want and deserve. Or not.
Either way, the energy is under your control to generate or transform it for a productive, vibrant, and alert day.
